Pregnancy - 25+ Weeks

We've passed week 25. Hurray! I can't believe how time is flying. When I first learned of my pregnancy, June seemed so distant. Now it's just three months away.

Last weekend, I must have been nesting because I decided it was time to get going on the painting projects (I say projects because we needed to paint not one, but two rooms to get ready for baby). We are converting our current guest room into a nursery and my old office into a guest room. Since we already cleared everything out of my old office, that seemed like the place to begin.

So, last Sunday we set to work painting two coats on the ceiling, a coat of primer on the walls and one coat of color over the primer -- all in one day. Let me tell you, that was overly ambitious, but at the time (and because of my stubborn nature), I thought I could do it. At the end of the day, I took a hot shower and collapsed into bed, telling my husband I could not do one more thing. (On a side note, this was a baby-safe painting job, as I know you're not supposed to inhale paint fumes during pregnancy. The primer and ceiling were both no VOC paint and the colored paint was low VOC; plus, I opened the window and had a fan running the entire time).

The next day, I was hurting (achy shoulders, back, etc.), but was still determined to finish the room. So I called in reinforcements. My sister helped get one more coat on the walls and do the corners and edges. That was Monday. Now it's Saturday and I still haven't gone back in to do the touch-ups. It shouldn't take too long but I'm a bit painted out. The urge to paint (just like the urge to clean) comes in waves for me. I'm just not feeling it right now. But I know once I get the paint for the nursery, a tidal wave of energy will sweep over me and I'll want to get going on it.

You know, painting projects are kind-of like that "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" book. Once you've painted, you want to clean the carpets, maybe add crown molding, and then you want to get new wall hangings to match the new color, and new window treatments, and maybe a new nightstand or bookshelf. And then you tell yourself, this was supposed to be an inexpensive project, and the baby's room still needs attention (and furniture, mind you). So, for now, I've stopped with paint. We may clean the carpets, too, after we get all the drop cloths cleaned up. But I may need a cleaning wave to accomplish that one :).
